Green Railway Awards are now a permanent element of the Railway Congress. Each year, the award honors companies and people who have particularly distinguished themselves in their efforts to bring the rail industry closer to ecology. During the 15th edition of the Congress, the winners included the CONTRACK technology.

Green prefabrication of rail infrastructure?

The first eco-effects of using CONTRACK technology are visible already at the planning stage: factory conditions include: they allow you to accurately predict material demand (without leaving excessive waste typical in construction conditions) and reduce the mileage performed by material suppliers.

- With CONTRACK technology, we can choose a local concrete mix supplier, only a few kilometers away from the factory. Thanks to this, machines with the mixture do not have to circulate around city centers for weeks, slowing down traffic that is already hampered by construction, in order to perform subsequent layers of pavement. Even at this stage, we are reducing social costs and emissions. – says Grzegorz Leszczyński, CEOof KZN Contrack.

Fast development means lower social costs

The social cost caused by the development of key infrastructure is borne by both residents and city managers. This means the need to organize detours and alternative transport, difficult deliveries to companies and institutions and economic costs. During disruptions, residents often give up public transport in favor of cars, waste hours in traffic jams, and are exposed to long-term increased emissions of not only CO2, but also noise.
- CONTRACK prefabricated elements are a ready-made product that, after being delivered to the site, can be installed even on weekends - within 72 hours. In this way, we eliminate, among others: the problem of long-term traffic paralysis, especially at points connecting tram and car traffic. Moreover, CONTRACK allows the replacement of the steel part without disturbing the concrete surface - previously, renovations required repeated production of concrete layers over many weeks. Therefore, we use the produced surface to the maximum. – adds Grzegorz Leszczyński.
The Railway Congress has been a part of the calendar of the most important meetings of the Polish rail industry for years. It brings together representatives and experts of leading companies, the media and politicians responsible for the future of infrastructure. This is an opportunity to review the industry and the changes taking place in it, but also to set further directions of development.
- We are glad that our technology was noticed at such an important event as the Railway Congress. Thank you for the award and we believe that awarding it to CONTRACK will set a new course in thinking about ecology in the rail infrastructure industry. – sums up the CEO of KZN Contrack.
