Representatives of the companies — Grzegorz Leszczyński, CEO of KZN Contrack, and Wojciech Ziemliński, CEO of Sika Poland — signed a letter of intent on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The document formalizes the long-standing cooperation between the companies and opens a new stage of their technological partnership. It outlines joint efforts aimed at the further development of CONTRACK technology and its promotion in the infrastructure market in Poland and abroad.
CONTRACK powered by Sika
This slogan naturally reflects the cooperation between the two companies:
-
“CONTRACK technology was designed to achieve high durability, consistent quality, and reduced project execution time. To accomplish this, we relied on the best experience — both our own and that of our partners — as well as the best available products. Sika’s specialized material solutions have been used since our first projects involving the installation of large-format prefabricated tramway track slabs,” says Grzegorz Leszczyński, CEO of KZN Contrack and Vice President of the KZN Bieżanów Group.
Sika – the Bond of CONTRACK Technology
Sika products are almost an integral element of CONTRACK technology. The elastic rail fastening compound is a key material that integrates the steel part of the structure with the large-format prefabricated CONTRACK slabs. Products from the global leader in construction chemicals are also injected beneath the slabs — a high-strength cementitious grout is used for precise positioning and stabilization of the prefabricated elements, forming a compact monolith resistant to external conditions.
The concrete mix design, developed using Sika materials, contains carefully selected plasticizing admixtures that increase the density and strength of the concrete while reducing the risk of microcracks. In addition, the upper surface of the prefabricated slabs is protected with a hydrophobic impregnation that limits the penetration of water and contaminants, reduces concrete absorption, and improves resistance to weather conditions and aggressive substances.
Joint Market Presence
Sika solutions have already been used in CONTRACK projects, including the reconstruction of Plac Zawiszy in Warsaw, where 121 large-format prefabricated CONTRACK slabs with a total area of approximately 1,600 m² were installed. They are also being used in Poznań, where the installation of 123 slabs with a total area of 2,365 m² is currently underway. In each project, durability, rapid installation, and high execution quality have been key factors ensured by the combination of CONTRACK technology and Sika material solutions.
The cooperation between the two companies also extends beyond construction sites. Sika actively participates in industry events together with CONTRACK. A notable example is the TRAKO International Railway Fair, where Sika representatives were present twice at the CONTRACK stand, jointly presenting technological solutions and sharing expert knowledge with participants of Poland’s most important railway industry event.
Synergy of Experience and Innovation
As an international leader in construction chemicals, Sika brings many years of experience, strong research and development capabilities, and proven material solutions to the partnership. CONTRACK, in turn, provides an innovative prefabrication technology that addresses the challenges of modern rail infrastructure.
The signing of the letter of intent formally confirms a cooperation that has existed in practice since the beginning of the project.
Today, CONTRACK powered by Sika is no longer just a declaration but a proven model of technological and commercial partnership that translates into durability, safety, and quality of infrastructure in Polish — and not only Polish — cities. It represents a qualitative change in the market which, as demonstrated in Warsaw, enables a new approach to the construction and modernization of key tram infrastructure and has introduced the concept of rapid-track reconstruction. The signing of the letter of intent marks a new chapter in cooperation aimed at further developing CONTRACK technology for markets requiring durable, resilient track systems with the possibility of rapid installation.
