KZN Bahntechnik Expands Its Project Footprint in Germany

Since 2015, KZN Bahntechnik has been supplying railway and tram turnouts, as well as turnout components, to the German market. The company, part of the KZN Bieżanów Group, is building its position based on its own production facilities, engineering expertise, and technical consultancy tailored to local requirements.

80 Years of Experience as the Foundation

KZN Bahntechnik is backed by the KZN Bieżanów Group — a manufacturer with over 80 years of experience in the design and production of turnouts and track infrastructure components. Its offering includes prefabricated railway and tram turnouts, turnout components, track accessories, and bearers, available in both standard geometries and customized solutions.

One Technological Chain, Full Quality Control

The technological base enables the execution of the entire process within a single chain — from concept and design support, through mechanical processing and special processes, to trial assembly and technical acceptance. This approach ensures continuous quality control and precise adaptation of solutions to specific infrastructure conditions.

Process reliability is confirmed by ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 22163 (IRIS) certifications, as well as Q1i HPQ approvals, including Deutsche Bahn certificates. KZN Bahntechnik is also a qualified supplier for BVG Berlin. Additional confirmation of a responsible approach to business operations is the EcoVadis Silver Medal awarded to the KZN Bieżanów Group for high standards in sustainability, ethics, and corporate social responsibility.

Railway and Tramway Projects

In recent years, the company has consistently expanded its project portfolio, gaining the trust of tram and railway network operators in both large and smaller cities. Projects include tram turnouts and turnout components for BVG in Berlin, complete tram turnouts with composite sleepers in Cologne, as well as infrastructure projects in Hanover, Ulm, and Bremen.

Operational Model Based on Cooperation

Thanks to the comprehensive structure of the KZN Bieżanów Group, the company operates through close cooperation between its design office in Bochum and its production facilities in Poland. This model ensures direct contact with German investors and contractors while maintaining full control over production processes and delivery quality.

CONTRACK – A New Approach to Tram Prefabrication

The group’s experience enables the introduction of new solutions for modern, durable, and safe infrastructure. One example is CONTRACK — a technology based on large-format prefabricated slabs for turnouts, crossings, and entire tram junctions, which reduces project execution time and minimizes disruption to urban traffic.

This solution has proven effective in major cities in Poland. It was used, for example, in the construction of a key turnout junction in Warsaw, reducing the duration of works to just five weeks.
