Chebzie tram loop with CONTRACK prefabricated elements

Tramwaje Śląskie has again decided to use prefabricated turnouts made using CONTRACK technology. For the first time, such a solution was used on a pilot basis in Bytom. The successful prototype development led to further development of the technology. In 2023, the innovation received the award. Nowkuńskiego during the TRAKO Fair, and in December of the same year, two more prefabricated turnouts were built at the Forteczna Depot in Poznań. In March 2024, prefabricated turnout slabs were also installed in Ruda Śląska near the renovated Chebzie Loop. This is where the structure presented by the KZN Bieżanów Group during the TRAKO Fair was found.

On March 25, the turnout slabs were installed, and the very next day a demonstration of the technology was held at the European Union roundabout, during which the slabs were adjusted to the designed grade line and self-leveling quick-drying mortar was injected. In the next stages, the turnout was prepared for welding and placed in prefabricated channels, which were then filled with mass for elastic fastening of the rails.

What's next for technology?
Since receiving the Nowkuński award, CONTRACK's offer has been consistently developing, offering not only prefabricated turnout slabs, but also crossing and arched concrete slabs, as well as integration slabs, intersystem inserts and slabs with a leveling device.
