Prefabricated bus bays are a concrete pavement system designed for the construction and modernization of public transport stops. The solution addresses the most common operational problems associated with bus bays built using bituminous technology — rutting, fatigue cracking, and degradation of the pavement surface.

A key element of the system is the prefabricated structural curb, which serves as a transition element between the bituminous road surface and the concrete surface of the bus bay. The properly designed geometry of this element enables correct load transfer in the transition zone between two different pavement types and reduces the occurrence of damage and deformation at their connection point. This solution improves the durability of the structure and ensures proper interaction between both pavement technologies.

The prefabricated elements are individually designed, taking into account the traffic category, expected axle loads, and soil and water conditions. The structure can be adapted to various bay widths, platform lengths, and road geometries, including locations on curves.

A major advantage of the system is prefabrication, which significantly shortens construction time within the road corridor while minimizing disruption for users.

Our solution stands out from currently used systems particularly in the following aspects:

  • concrete prefabricated elements designed for high bus traffic loads;

  • the use of a prefabricated structural curb stabilizing the transition between the bituminous pavement and the concrete slab;

  • the possibility of rapid installation — even within 72 hours, thanks to reduced wet construction works and a high degree of factory prefabrication;

  • consistent quality and high precision ensured by production under controlled conditions;

  • reduced maintenance costs throughout the entire pavement life cycle.
